Nepal
is a landlocked country situated between China in the north and India in
south. The land of Nepal extends approximately 885 Km east to west and 193
Km north to south. Nepal contains the greatest altitude variation on its
size. The land rises from the Terai, the southern plain at almost sea level
and with a short distance to the north, culminates at Mt. Everest the
highest peak on the earth. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and situated at
1336 m above sea level and covers an area of 218 square miles. The Newars
are the indigenous inhabitants of Kathmandu valley and the creators of the
three fabled cities Kathmandu, Patan & Bhaktapur. Each is an artistic
exposition of graceful temples, elegant palaces, brick paved courtyards and
quaint street. Nepal is the only Hindu kingdom in the world and it is sacred
land, where Buddha was born. So Nepal is a complex blend of Hinduism and
Buddhism. Primarily, Nepal is an agricultural country and 95 % depend upon
agriculture. The major industries of Nepal are Carpet, Tourism and Garments.

What To Wear: Medium-weight
and easy to wash cottons can be a good choice year-round in the Kathmandu
Valley. From October to February woolen sweaters, jackets or similar other
outfits are necessary. Short or long sleeved shirt is good from March - May.
From June to September light and loose garments are advisable.
